We are seeking to recruit a Procurement Manager to lead the Procurement team within the Buildings and Facilities Service.
This is a key role. The post holder will be required to provide a professional procurement service within Orkney Islands Council, the key objectives of which are to:
• secure the effective and timely acquisition of goods and services; and
• the continued achievement of value for money in accordance with corporate policies and guidelines.
You will have to balance effective strategic planning with meeting day to day delivery deadlines.
This is a very varied job within a fast moving environment. The Procurement team is small and very busy. We are working hard on a Procurement Improvement Programme and are determined to be the best that we can be, providing a top quality service to all our stakeholders. We are also mindful of the need to make sure that we do what we can to support our local economy, whilst at the same time responding to reducing budgets within Local Authorities and making sure that effective procurement delivers efficiencies.
Significant Procurement experience is required and it is also very important for the candidate to have people management, task management, planning, communication and analytical skills. You should already have, or be working towards, Professional Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (MCIPS).
