Job Description

Shetland College has a vacancy for a Senior Lecturer in Business & Hospitality, covering a period of maternity leave.

Requirements The grade of this post is LECTSNR Salary shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £1,998 per annum (pro rata) Temporary Term Time Part Time post for 21 hours per week, 40 weeks per year plus 12 weeks (pro rata) paid holiday to be taken during school holidays. Temporary contract for a period of approximately 12 months. This is for the duration of a period of maternity leave, and will terminate following the return to work or resignation of the postholder Preferred candidates will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (Children) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update prior to a formal offer of employment being made A relocation package does not apply to this post We will pay interview expenses from within Shetland Not suitable for Remote Working

Responsibilities

The duties of this post include:
- managing the day to day running of this section of the college within the budget set annually;
- ensuring the section delivers a quality learning and teaching experience to all its learners;
- teaching planned lessosn and underpinning knowledge to students assigned to approved courses;
- assessing students work and helping students to achieve their awards
- planning lessons, developing and updating course materials as required

The Individual

We are looking for application from suitably qualified and experienced individuals which can demonstrate the following:
- Professional background relevant to business and/or hospitality;
- Relevant degree, professional qualification and 5 years teaching experience in business and/or hospitality;
- Leadership ability, excellent communication skills;
- Commitment to Education and Vocational Training
