WESTERN ISLES HOSPITAL, MACAULAY ROAD, STORNOWAY, ISLE OF LEWIS, HS1 2AF Specialist Clinical Pharmacist Full-time post (37.5hours per week) plus on-call Band 7 (£31,696 to £41,787), plus short-term Recruitment and Retention Premium of 20% for the first twelve months and Distant Islands Allowance (£975 per annum) Permanent post This post is in based at the Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway, Isle of Lewis and offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced self-motivated pharmacist to help continue exciting work in developing a clinical and patient focussed clinical pharmacy service. The post-holder will be one of three clinical pharmacists working at this hospital and will be responsible for the clinical pharmacy service to a number of wards including consultant ward rounds, patient counselling and multi-disciplinary working with ward-based medical and nursing staff. There will also be opportunities to get involved in providing a clinical pharmacy service to the local hospice and remotely to another two hospitals throughout the archipelago, involvement in the local SACT service and multi-disciplinary training sessions. The service is looking to develop opportunities and initiatives around self-medication using patient's own drug lockers throughout the hospital. Development of managerial and clinical skills will be encouraged through project work and audit. This is an exciting opportunity to join a friendly and highly motivated multidisciplinary team including a full range of healthcare professionals. Based in Stornoway, you will have access to some of the UK's most beautiful scenery including spectacular sandy beaches (with some of the best surfing in the UK), excellent diving sites and some more rugged terrain for the more adventurous types. We are also only a short journey from Aberdeen, Glasgow, Inverness and Edinburgh by plane, with twice daily ferry sailing to the mainland.
