We are looking for a motivated, creative individual to join our band 5 occupational therapy rotation. For this vacancy, we are looking for an individual who is interested in acquiring skills in the assessment and treatment of people with Learning Disabilities, to work within a supportive and experienced multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will be expected to work in partnership with people who have a learning disability as well as their support network, facilitating access to resources within their local communities across the Highlands. Although based in Inverness, the post-holder will be required to provide an occupational therapy service to individuals with a learning disability, from across the Highland area, with the exception of Argyll and Bute. The post holder will be required to work across disciplines and agencies to facilitate integration of services whilst providing person-centred care in a variety of settings. The post holder will provide assessment and support, using Occupational Therapy skills with regards to housing needs, environmental supports, positive risk management, compensatory equipment, psycho-social activities, management of behaviours that challenge, maximising independence, carer/supporter education, supported self management and active support. At the end of this 9 month rotational position, the post holder will then move to a different clinical area, included in the rotation. At present, the rotation includes other clinical areas such as acute medicine, hand therapy, surgery, stroke unit, orthopaedics, community occupational therapy and community hospital. There is also an active basic grade peer support group. Full current driving licence and use of car for work purposes is essential. Short-listed applicants will be contacted by email.
