Applications are invited for a number of Consultant Paediatrician posts within our integrated paediatric service. These are full time, 10 PA, posts based at Raigmore Hospital Inverness, with outpatient clinics in a variety of outlying Highland locations. They include Acute Paediatrics including neonatology and outpatients including General and Community Paediatric duties. A special interest is encouraged: those of Medical Education, Endocrinology or Metabolic Medicine would be most desirable, but not essential: any special interest however would be considered. This post will participate in the hot week and on-call (non-resident consultant) rota on a 1:9 basis. These posts provide the opportunity to practise high quality general paediatrics and neonatology in a busy District General Hospital in the Highlands of Scotland. You will be part of a committed team of consultants with full middle grade support. Raigmore Hospital is a modern District General Hospital with approximately 500 beds. The newly built Highland Children's Unit opened in May 2016, and has 32 beds for in-patient care, a Paediatric Ambulatory Unit, a 4–bedded Paediatric HDU and a 6-bedded day case area. There are approximately 1750 medical paediatric admissions to Children's Ward each year and a further 350 day cases. There are around 350 infants admitted to SCBU each year. The SCBU undertakes long-term neonatal intensive care for babies over 28 weeks gestation, and has facilities to ventilate up to 4 infants at a time. Annual delivery rate is around 2100. The establishment currently comprises 7 hospital consultant Paediatricians (3 WTE, 4 part-time 3.2 WTE), 3 combined hospital and community consultant Paediatricians( 2.8 WTE) and 3 (2.7WTE) community consultant Paediatricians. The Highlands offer unparalleled opportunities for outdoor pursuits and an excellent quality of life. Inverness is a wonderful place to live and work, and an ideal place to raise a family, with local schooling of very high standards. The city has excellent shops and restaurants and Eden Court Theatre has a varied and exciting programme of cultural activities. Inverness is well connected by road, rail and air to major UK and European cities. Part time and job share applications are welcome. Further details about NHS Highland are available at www.nhshighland.scot.nhs.uk Applicants must be on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of the anticipated award of a CCT at the time of interview for the post.
