THE ROLE: As part of a team, responsible to the Maintenance Team Leader for the maintenance, fault-finding and repair of ScotRail vehicles to the prescribed standards. This post also involves working directly on T&RS vehicles up to, and including, ROGS.

THE PERSON: Applicants should have the ability to work as part of a team, and be able to recognise the customer's needs, whilst showing individual initiative.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Must be a Time-Served Engineer (Mechanical/Electrical), qualified to at least City & Guilds standard, and ideally have experience in working in a T&RS environment. Must be or willing to work toward to SVQ3 in either Mechanical/Electrical within a 2 year period as this post requires dual trade skills. Ability to drive desirable.

OTHER INFORMATION: This post involves 3-shift pattern, with shifts commencing at a variety of start times, including weekend working.

Reference Salary £40,041 per annum. Training salary is £35,669 per annum.

Note: Part of this salary is non-pensionable.

Training: Training initially involves a 5 day Induction training programme including first aid and fire safety training. Selection process: Candidates short-listed will be invited to attend an assessment centre. The final stage for successful candidates will be a medical examination and drugs/alcohol screening. Appointees must provide at least 2 satisfactory references and complete a six month probation period.
