Job Vacancy

Based at Midlothian House, Dalkeith, you will implement the Council's statutory duties in relation to the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 by co-ordinating the management of Midlothian's outdoor access resource and promote, develop and monitor the maintenance of a network of paths, bridleways and cycleways in Midlothian.

You will also develop, promote and manage all Council owned woodland sites; co-ordinate and respond to specific onsite access issues related to these sites and ensuring the councils tree stock is managed appropriately

An HND level qualification in a countryside, forestry or landscape related subject is the minimum qualification for this post. In addition, experience of, countryside management, land use management in a relevant field and have an understanding of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003.

You should be able to demonstrate effective partnership working and have experience of commissioning research, project planning and costing projects. You will also need to be IT literate using Microsoft Office.

Working Pattern: Monday – Thursday 09.00 -17.00
Friday 09.00 – 15.30

Weeks per year: 52 weeks

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.

Based on you working 36 hours over 52 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £24,439.02 per annum.

Requirements

Compliance with the mandatory Cabinet Office PSN (Public Sector Network) Code of Connection requires the Council to meet a baseline personal security standard. This requires completion of a basic/standard/enhanced disclosure check for all employees who can access official information. The fee for this PSN Disclosure check is £25 and the successful candidate will be required to re-pay to the Council the fee through payroll deduction.
