Fife Council Criminal Justice Social Work service has a number of positions available across the service.
Fife Council Criminal Justice Social Work aims to provide services and work within partnerships that contribute to community safety and public protection.
Delivering services in accordance with National Outcomes and Standards for
Social Work Services in the Criminal Justice System;
Effective risk assessment and risk management of people with convictions
Targeting resources at people with convictions who are at risk of custody and are deemed to present a risk to the public.
Working in partnership with other services and agencies to ensure credible, consistent services that promote social inclusion.
Work undertaken includes:Delivering Groupwork programmes to people with convictions Provision of reports to assist decision-making by the Courts, Procurators Fiscal and parole Board Statutory supervision of people with convictions in the community Statutory supervision of people with convictions following release from prison Requirements
Before confirming appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Membership through Disclosure Scotland, in addition to which registration with the Scottish Social Services Council is essential.Responsibilities
Working as part of a specialist team you will be required to:
Assess the suitability of potential participants for the Community – Sexual Offending Groupwork Programme (C-SOGP) and for the Domestic Abuse
Groupwork Programme that are facilitated by the team
Support Fife Council's role in relation to Sex Offender legislation and associated guidance and to prove services related to the risk assessment and management or sexual offenders;
Support Fife Council's role in the management of perpetrators of domestic abuse
Prepare reports for the Scottish Courts Service, Parole Board, MAPPA and MARAC
Use accredited tools to evaluate the risk posed by sexual and high risk people with convictions
Attend Child Protection/Vulnerable Adult Case Conferences
Deliver accredited programmes aimed at addressing offending behaviour.The Individual
You will have previous experience of working in a social work setting, working with Sexual Offenders and have experience in delivering groupwork programmes.
You will have a Diploma in Social Work (or equivalent) qualification.
To practise as a Social Worker it is essential that the applicant holds a Diploma in Social Work. Consideration will, however, be given to applicants who have completed the Diploma but have not yet received confirmation of qualification. In this case you will be appointed and paid as a Social Work Assistant until the Social Worker appointment can be confirmed.
It would be advantageous to be an accredited or provisionally accredited facilitator of the MF:MC.
