The Department of Care, Health and Sport wish to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic Assessor (SVQ) to work with learners across SCQF levels 4 to 6. This post will be based within our Sport & Fitness team and will assess Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQ) in Sport & Active Leisure within the FVC campuses.

The post will involve providing direct support and delivery to SVQ candidates, assisting them in producing high quality portfolio submissions that meet SVQ criteria and National Occupation Standards. The post will involve direct contact with learner groups, providing placement visits to assess practice, assessment of SVQs, selection of candidates and the application of Quality procedures.
Reporting to the Curriculum Manager for Sport & Fitness, you will produce high quality delivery and assessment materials. You will provide candidates with excellent assessment support within the specialist area of Sport & Active Leisure Facilities Operations. You will work with others to develop new approaches to SVQ delivery, support and assessment, making use of learning technologies.
Ensuring that the curriculum is relevant and up-to-date, you will contribute to the development of elements of provision and enhance students' learning through providing support. You will naturally have a strong learner and customer care focus. You will have knowledge and understanding of vocational qualifications frameworks and assessment procedures.
You will be educated to at least SCQF level 8 (HND or above) or equivalent, within in the specialist area of Sport & Active Leisure Facilities Operations/Management and have relevant industry experience. You will hold Assessor and Verifier qualifications (A1/V1).

Ideally, you will have experience in Further Education or adult education delivering vocational qualifications, and hold qualifications in First Aid and Fitness Training. You may hold a Professional Development Award in Teaching or Adult Guidance or equivalent, or have a willingness to work towards achieving these.

You will have experience of developing innovative assessment practice along with good organisational skills and evidence of appropriate ICT skills. You will also possess good knowledge and understanding of health and safety requirements and a sound understanding of SVQ quality enhancement processes and standards. It would be highly desirable to have experience in assessing SVQ Sport & Active Leisure Levels 1 and 2.
