Longniddry Primary is a non denominational, co-educational primary school situated on the coastline of East Lothian. The school serves the village of Longniddry and the surrounding area, originally farmlands. The school was built in 1931. It is an attractive building set in peaceful, rural surroundings. An extensive building programme in the 1970s led to a two storey semi open plan extension being added in 1978. Recent improvements have been made, including a Nursery extension and upgrading of facilities. For the past few years the average has been 8 classes plus a nursery class. The school caters for children from 3 to 12 years. There are currently 205 children in P1 to P7 and 60 children in our nursery. Almost all our children experience their pre school year in our nursery class. Our catchment secondary school is Preston Lodge High School and most of our children transfer there. The Prestonpans cluster works well and is very supportive. The school staffing consists of a Head Teacher, Depute Head Teacher with 0.6 class commitment, PT with 0.9 class commitment, 7 CTs, specialists in music and PE. At present there is an active Parent Council. The school has enthusiastic children, supportive parents, committed support staff and dedicated teachers - a fantastic. combination.
Further Information on the school can be found at http://www.edubuzz.org/longniddry/
