Job Vacancy

St Luke's RC Primary school serves the communities of Mayfield and Easthouses, and is situated on a shared campus with Mayfield Primary School, Mayfield Nursery and Mayfield Library.

The school currently has 9 classes from P1-P7 and a roll of approximately 196 from August 2017.

The school is led by a senior leadership team consisting of a head teacher, acting depute head teacher and acting principal teacher. There are 11 class teachers and a support staff of 5 learning assistants, an administrative assistant and school janitor.

The post of playground supervisor is a permanent post within the school.

Duties will include:

• Supervision in the shared dining hall
• Setting up of play equipment in both playgrounds
• Supervision of pupils in the playground
• Interacting and initiating play with pupils in the playground
• Distributing of home packed lunches on a Friday morning

Although no formal qualifications are required Jobholders must have previous experience and an understanding of the needs of small children and be able to respond to the general welfare of pupils.

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.

Based on you working 6 hours over 39 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £2,490.84 per annum.

Requirements

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children.

Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Children. You will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment with Midlothian Council, the cost of which will be met by you.
