Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is the planning authority for the Outer Hebrides, an area renowned for environmental quality, beautiful scenery, outdoor opportunities, low crime rates and good schools.
Working within the Development Department, you will be required to provide professional planning services to enable the Comhairle to fulfil statutory planning duties and related tasks. The postholder will be based within the Development Management team of the Planning Service and required to work for 37 hours per week although consideration will also be given to applicants who wish to work part time (a minimum of 22.2 hours per week). The post-holder will handle a varied case load across a wide range of development types, including some EIA developments.Requirements
You will have Full or Associate Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute. In addition, you must have: clear knowledge of current planning legislation and procedures, and national planning policy and guidance; clear knowledge of the purpose and operation of the planning system in Scotland; good interpersonal, listening, negotiation, verbal and written communication skills; ability to accept responsibility and work constructively within a small team; good investigative, analytical and assessment skills; ability to read and interpret spatial data and use e-technology. A current driving licence access to vehicle is essential.
Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of grade.
