Community Sports Officer
21 hours per week
Temporary until 31 March 2018
£21,579 to £23,660 pro rata (including Distant Islands Allowance)
Each local authority has been awarded funding to create a Community Sports Hub (CSH) in order to encourage greater sports participation. CSH's are based around existing sports facilities and Orkney Islands Council will be developing this concept through the post of Community Sports Officer.
A key role will include engaging with stakeholders, supporting the development of sports clubs, facilitating coaching courses, seeking grant funding, supporting national objectives, liaising with sports governing bodies, and achieving performance indicators.
Candidates must have excellent communication skills, have experience of working with schools and sports clubs, self motivated, focused on achieving targets, and have a minimum of three years working in a physical activity environment. In addition, candidates must have achieved a relevant degree along with obtaining national governing body coaching qualifications.
This position is funded through sportscotland.
This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children.
