Braidburn is a Special School, which makes provision for nursery, primary and secondary learners with complex, long term additional support needs. The needs of learners are primarily associated with learning disability and significant visual/sensory, health and medical needs. The current school roll is 79 and the maximum class size is 8. Pupils benefit from a breadth of opportunities, covering all areas within the framework of the national guidelines for the 3-18 curriculum.
Braidburn School opened in August 2005. It occupies an attractive site on the Firrhill Educational Village alongside Firrhill High School and Oxgangs Primary School. This provides opportunities to develop a range of positive and rewarding links for the pupils of all three schools. The nursery, primary and secondary accommodation which is purpose built includes a spacious nursery and rooms for Home Economics, Music, and Science. In addition, there is an Independent Living Base, a soft playroom, a sensory suite, therapy rooms and a hydrotherapy pool and gym facilities.
