The Glasgow 2018 European Championships is a new multi-sport event which will be held in Glasgow and Berlin in the summer of 2018. More than 8000 athletes, officials and media are expected in Glasgow and Scotland with a potential television audience of more than one billion.
Funded jointly by the Scottish Government and Glasgow City Council this new event will be organised in partnership with the international and national sports federations for each of the participating sports. The Glasgow 2018 European Championships will allow Glasgow and Scotland to continue to build on the economic, cultural and sporting legacy achieved by staging the Commonwealth Games in 2014.
This role based within the Glasgow 2018 C3 and TER Functional Area will manage the TER (Testing, Exercise and Readiness) Work-stream, the post-holder will:
Write and manage the TER Programme Plan for the Glasgow 2018 European Championships ensuring all key stakeholder requirements are established and delivered Establish a planning and delivery structure for the TER Programme including the capture and implementation of lessons learned and actions Develop relevant templates and processes to enable a successful TER Programme Capture and collate all TER requirements from within the Championships Team Ensure all stakeholders involved with Glasgow 2018 are aware of their roles and responsibilities for TER, to help deliver a successful programme Manage appointed contractors involved in the planning and delivery of key TER activities Chair and coordinate effective planning groups to ensure efficient development and effective delivery of the TER Programme Assist Governance Functional Area in the over-sight and accurate recording of actions from lessons learned following TER activities Develop and implement and effective communications strategy for the TER programme ensuring information and key message are passed to internal and external stakeholders in a timely manner Manage an Operational Readiness Review for each venue / sport / functional area (as applicable) ensuring each element is Championships Ready, in so doing provide relevant assurance of Championships Readiness Working with the Senior C3 and TER Manager produce a Championships Readiness Statement.
Responsibilities of this role will evolve during the lifespan of the project and it is likely that the person specification will evolve with the changing needs of the Championships.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the success of the inaugural edition of this exciting event as it makes its world sporting calendar debut.
The successful candidate must be able to commit to evening and weekend working shortly before, and during, the Championships. Restrictions on annual leave will also be necessary in the summer of 2018.
The successful candidate will be based at Commonwealth House, 32 Albion Street, Glasgow.
