The purpose of the job is to undertake the Surveyor role on large and small scale refurbishment / repair projects of both housing and non-housing stock within West Lothian.
The post holder will be expected to fulfil the job outline responsibilities/current tasks for the position and provide a comprehensive, cost effective contractors and a quantity surveying service on a variety of major building and maintenance contracts.

The key duties of this post are:To provide a comprehensive, cost effective contractors and a quantity surveying service on a variety of major building and maintenance contracts. To assist in the delivery of the Council's capital and revenue programmes including the resource management, measurement, cost control and financial reconciliation for construction work to optimise the performance of Building Services to ensure that optimum financial reconciliation within a Best Value cost recovery system. Identify new working methods and practices taking advantages of technical developments to secure continuous improvement and best value service delivery.
The skills and experience you must havePossess a relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction. Alternatively must have substantial Quantity Surveying experience in either a professional and / or contractual environment. Excellent financial management and negotiation skills Good communication skills. Computer literacy. Must possess particular practical and productive skills and be able to work without supervision in the most efficient and economical manner and have technical ability expected of a Surveyor. Have the ability to work at heights, i.e. up scaffolding. Must possess excellent Customer Care Skills Be proactive in identifying ways of improving service provision A good level of health and safety awareness and be able to demonstrate an understanding of Health and Safety Regulations Must have a Full UK Driving Licence
