A key member of our busy team, your strong employee relations background will help you excel in our fast paced organisation and ensure that you contribute to the provision of a legally compliant and customer focused service to managers, employees and other stakeholders. Guaranteeing the delivery of a timely and quality employee relations service, you will proactively support the organisation in matters of policy and procedure, legislation and terms and conditions of employment and will undertake a review of our policies and procedures to ensure that they are aligned to best practice and underpin our organisations values and behaviours. You will also have a significant role in promoting equality and diversity within the Council and will lead and participate in a number of initiatives and developments relating to this. On a more general basis, you will support managers through complex employee relations issues, provide mediation where there is conflict or grievance, work closely with the trade unions to maintain excellent employee relations and undertake projects as defined or required by the organisation. Your expertise will also be required in the areas of reward and recognition, occupational health and wellbeing and health and safety.
Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will be eligible for membership of the CIPD and will have substantial experience of working as an HR professional, have a successful track record of managing employee relations cases, providing advice and working in partnership with managers, employees and trade unions. With in-depth knowledge of current employment legislation, you will have experience of contributing to and writing policies and procedures that are compliant with employment legislation whilst ensuring they assist our organisation meet its objectives. With exceptional communication skills, you will have excellent time management skills, exercise attention to detail and have well developed planning, organisational, research and analytical skills. Your ability to challenge the norm and influence others will be evident, as will your innovative and creative mind set and your determination to succeed in this role.
You will be required to travel throughout the area of North Lanarkshire Council.
