Roads and Environmental Services - Fleet
37 hours per week
Permanent (Monday to Thursday, 8am – 4.00pm, Friday, 8am – 3.30pm)
£20,345 - £22,061 (including Distant Islands Allowance)
A garage mechanic is required to maintain large goods vehicles, some of which are specialist, light vehicles and plant. Experience in auto electrics, hydraulics, diagnostics and fabrication work as well as completing vehicle safety inspections would be an advantage, although training will be given.
You will be a good timekeeper, reliable and self-motivated and be able to use your initiative.
You should have a good general standard of education including literacy and numeracy, and be trained and certified in mechanical engineering by a recognised body such as city and guilds, SQA or SCOTVEC. A full current 'B' class (car) driving licence is essential and a 'C' class LGV licence would be desirable.
In addition to the above duties, the person appointed must be able to undertake standby duties as required. This will involve out of hours working, for which an appropriate overtime or standby payment will be made.
