Job Vacancy

Based at Highbank Care Home, you will ensure that the Care Home building, fixtures and fittings and the grounds are maintained to the appropriate standard by providing a local repairs, maintenance and replacements service. We are looking for a motivated, reliable and effective person to join the team. You will be working with Elderly clients so should also have a positive and caring attitude. You will need to liaise with managers, care staff and other contractors to ensure that standards are maintained throughout.

You may also be required support care staff by assisting with transport and relocation of people and equipment between venues and within the Home.

Please note that this post is worked over 4 days, Mon-Thurs.

Essential

The jobholder must be literate and numerate and have general knowledge and experience of household building maintenance, preferably with some knowledge of the building trades.
The job holder periodically transports people and equipment in a minibus and needs a full driving licence with D1 and E endorsements.

Desirable

A general understanding of the philosophy and standards of care used in care homes.

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.

Based on you working 18 hours over 52 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £8,932.17 per annum.

Requirements

This post is considered Regulated Work with Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with protected adults.

Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Adults. You will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment with Midlothian Council, the cost of which will be met by you.
