The successful candidate will work at our modern campus, which has just undergone a £30 million redevelopment, in the heart of the vibrant and welcoming city of Glasgow.
You will initially support our strategic project to replace our current student information management system (SIMS). Our approach is to work collaboratively with the Academic and Professional Services teams, to understand, document and improve our business processes and to apply lean process design to ensure that our systems and services best support our customer - staff, students and business partners - journey. You will understand that this is achieved by partnership working with colleagues in Schools and Professional Services and close liaison with project and change management and development teams.
We are looking for a Business Analyst able to demonstrate a successful track record in business and systems analysis using structured methodologies and of implementing third party enterprise information systems. You will be able to document and communicate complex information concepts in non-technical terms to a range of users.

As part of the Strategic Projects Team work with Schools and Professional Services to:Provide feasibility studies, guidance and cost estimates in order to deliver options for meeting business needs Analyse and document business processes including, for example, 'As-Is' and 'To-Be' business process flows Document workflows and results of business analysis and obtain sign-off on the specifications. Perform analysis on the corporate information requirements to enable improvements in business processes Assist in the preparation and creation of functional specifications Create comprehensive technical specifications Liaise with external bodies or third party suppliers Accountabilites/Responsibilities of the role Facilitate workshops to engage users to gather and document business requirements and solutions throughout the whole project life cycle, translating client requirements into highly specified project briefs Use knowledge and experience to determine the most appropriate design and test processes, providing overall management of their development Identify options for potential solutions and assess them for both technical and business suitability processes ensuring clear ownership resides within the relevant School or Professional Service Department and that the requirements and solution support the University strategic objectives Contribute to the implementation of new systems and processes including identification of solutions and options in relation to systems integration and data migration planning, analysis and design Work effectively with external suppliers. Educational and/or Professional Qualifications
E1 - Degree or recognised IT/Information qualification and/or equivalent relevant experience
E2 - Able to demonstrate extensive experience in a similar role in a commercial or HE environment
E3 - ITIL or similar quality assurance standard (minimum Foundation level)
D1 - Prince 2 Foundation level / ITIL Practitioner
D2 – Experience in the application of Lean Business Process Design
E4 - Demonstrable successful track record in business and systems analysis using a structured methodology from inception to completion
E5 - Demonstrable successful track record in implementation of third party enterprise information systems
E6 - Possess a comprehensive level of knowledge of information technology, information management and quality systems
E7 - Resource management with the ability to agree priorities and negotiate for resources
