NATIONAL RISK & RESILIENCE DEPARTMENT
Special Operations Response Teams
1 x North of Scotland SORT Base, Bridge of Don, Aberdeen
1 x West of Scotland SORT Base, Johnstone
The National Risk and Resilience Department (NRRD) is currently seeking applications from enthusiastic, flexible and self-motivated individuals to provide logistical support to the Special Operations Response Teams (SORT). The NRRD manages a range of national functions including risk management, integrated emergency planning and resilience, business continuity and specialised operational response, including the Special Operations Response Teams and Community First Responders across Scotland. The purpose of SORT is to provide patient care in line with the service vision by taking professional care to the patient in environments where such care was previously unavailable.
The primary roles of SORT relate to multi-agency operations and potential major incidents and team members also specialise in areas such as Inland Water Operations, Confined Space Working, Urban Search and Rescue, Restricted and Difficult Access, Tactical Medical Operations and Police Firearms Support. SORT personnel also attend more than 9000 emergency calls annually in addition to their core SORT role.
The role of the Logistics Officer is to provide an effective logistical support function to enable clinical staff and managers to concentrate fully on the delivery and management of immediate clinical care without a requirement to provide logistical duties.
This includes ensuring that medical and other equipment, vehicles and infrastructure assets are prepared for immediate emergency response, managing inventory, including the maintenance, servicing, testing, repair and replacement of equipment and the supply, resupply and distribution of consumables and equipment.
The Logistics Officer manages the maintenance, collection and distribution of items forming the national stockpile for emergency response and will be required to attend the scenes of incidents, training and exercising events to provide logistical support. You will also be required to deal with sensitive information for which official security vetting will be required in addition to standard pre-employment.
Informal enquiries should be made to:
Jim Dickie, Head of Specialist Operations on 0131 344 5678.
