St Margaret's Academy is a Catholic secondary school situated in Livingston, West Lothian. The school has six associated primary schools drawing a comprehensive mix of students and serves the communities of Livingston, Pumpherston, Dechmont, Broxburn, Uphall, Winchburgh, Kirknewton, East Calder and Mid Calder. The current school roll is 1100 Students with 87 members of teaching staff including those designated to support students with additional learning needs.
St Margaret's Academy has an excellent reputation in the local community, particularly for the high standards of conduct and confidence displayed by students. In addition to the formal curriculum, a wide range of extra-curricular and out-of-hours activities are on offer. The school receives a high level of support and encouragement from parents. Attendance at parents' evenings is good, and information and consultation exercises are well supported.

The key duties of this post are:Preparing materials, equipment and technical areas for use by teachers and students. The postholder must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) required to undertake duties when required. Assisting in the design and construction of equipment and models for use in workshops and classrooms, i.e. preparation of examples. Assisting in demonstrating the use of tools and equipment and workshop techniques to students in conjunction with the teaching staff. Maintaining an adequate range of stack and efficient stock levels. As unprepared materials are purchased, the post holder spends a considerable amount of time on materials preparation.
The skills and experience you must have:A recognised craft apprenticeship in a relevant discipline or possession of a SCOTVEC or equivalent qualification is essential.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
