The Glasgow 2018 European Championships is a new multi-sport event which will be held in Glasgow and Berlin in the summer of 2018. More than 8000 athletes, officials and media are expected in Glasgow and Scotland with a potential television audience of more than one billion.
Funded jointly by the Scottish Government and Glasgow City Council this new event will be organised in partnership with the international and national sports federations for each of the participating sports. The Glasgow 2018 European Championships will allow Glasgow and Scotland to continue to build on the economic, cultural and sporting legacy achieved by staging the Commonwealth Games in 2014.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a candidate with proven experience in the planning and delivery of Venue Logistics within the major events industry.
Working in a complex landscape with multiple internal and external partners, suppliers and stakeholders, the candidate will have proven experience in a senior leadership role in the planning and delivery of venue logistics operations at a major sporting events and/or world-class events. The candidate will also have significant experience in leading and managing high performing teams and staff as well as a proven track record of managing Logistics services through agreed timelines, deliverables, contingencies, scope changes and milestones.
The Venue Logistics Cluster Manager will be responsible for project planning and the operational management of a cluster of Glasgow 2018 venues. The Manager will be actively involved in the development of venue specific operating plans, outlining processes for the receipt, storage, distribution, on-going supply and recovery of equipment across several venues. The initial phase of this role will involve the resource planning for all logistics service requirements. The second phase will be operational and will involve the implementation, delivery and site supervision of venue logistics operations across a cluster of venues.
The successful candidate will be based at Commonwealth House, 32 Albion Street, Glasgow.
