TEMPORARY FOR 18 MONTHS

You can transform your potential into an exciting career within the waste sector and help North Ayrshire Council develop our services across all of our waste related activities including waste strategy, waste engagement, waste transfer operations and treatment activities.

As part of North Ayrshire Council’s Modern Apprentice Recruitment Process if, following interview, you are chosen as a Preferred Candidate, you must complete a 2 week pre-employment Course with one of our Employability Partners, before being issued with a Conditional Offer of Employment.

ROLE DEFINITION

To undertake a Modern Apprenticeship and contribute to the efficient and effective delivery of the service.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Corporate Responsibilities

To undertake individual role in line with the Council’s Strategic Priorities and in compliance with the Council’s corporate policies and procedures. To undertake any other reasonably required duties as instructed by Management or someone acting on their behalf, in addition to the role specific tasks & responsibilities detailed below.

Role Specific Tasks & Responsibilities

Under supervision, and with support and guidance, the Modern Apprentice will undertake the following duties and responsibilities:

General waste related activities covering waste and recycling operations, waste awareness and engagement, waste transfer operations and treatment activities. Specific supervisory training set within the waste industry, contributing to and leading on the delivery of improved work activities and their impacts on the environment. Use of systems and undertake monitoring and assessment to maintain service delivery efficiency and effectiveness. Provide information and guidance to residents and businesses of North Ayrshire on sustainable waste behaviour. Promotion of Waste Resources services by assisting with the organisation of activities, events and promotional material.

3 National 5's or 3 Credit Standard Grades, or equivalent
