Early Years Support Assistant (Temporary)

This post will be based at Kelloholm Nursery, initially working 3.5 hours per week (August to December), followed by 6 hours per week (Jan to June) 39 weeks per year.
You will contribute to effective early learning opportunities and environments by working as part of a team to support the development of high quality, integrated early years services for children and families.
You will have experience of early years provision. You will also have good organisational/communication/interpersonal skills, work well under direction, use your own initiative as required, and be an effective team worker who understands the importance of confidentiality.
You must hold a relevant Early Years qualification, as specified by the Scottish Social Service Council (SSSC), which will enable you to register with SSSC as a practitioner. All successful applicants for early education and child care posts will be required to register with the SSSC.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
This is a temporary post for a period of up to 11 months.
This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.
