As a result of a recent internal promotion, we have an opportunity for a town planner who is keen to further their career by gaining experience across a wide range of planning activities in one of Scotland’s award winning Planning Authorities.
Fife Council pays the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate to employees earning less than £8.33 per hour. If the hourly rate of pay for the post is less than the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate a supplement will be paid.Requirements
We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with a positive attitude to customer care. An individual who is keen to progress their career, further develop their knowledge and skills whilst delivering an excellent planning service. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a level of competence and knowledge of planning legislation commensurate with the post. In addition, applicants must hold a degree or equivalent in Town and Country Planning as well as Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute.Responsibilities
The successful candidate will initially join one of two development management teams:
our Priority Applications Team, which is responsible for dealing with all National and Major applications in Fife, or;
our Development Management Team, which processes a wide range of Local applications.
Initially the post-holder will be responsible for dealing with a caseload appropriate to their level of experience but will be able to gain experience over the whole range of applications as we positively encourage rotation between teams to provide a platform for career progression. The post-holder will also have the opportunity to gain experience of presenting applications to Committees and acting as an advisor to the Fife Local Review Body.The Individual
We would particularly welcome applications from candidates with experience of assessing applications for a range of complex developments, including Major and EIA applications. Applicants should be able to demonstrate their ability to prepare reports which assess and balance competing issues, be keen to deliver to agreed targets and be responsive to customers.
