Job Description The Museum and Archive at Lews Castle is an exciting and busy heritage attraction and we are looking for individuals with exceptional customer service skills to work as Relief Visitor Assistants. If you are a responsible person who likes working with people, and you would like to work in cultural heritage, this job could be a perfect match for you. Duties include: engaging with visitors to the Museum and Archive, interpreting displays and collections in an enjoyable and informative way; invigilating the galleries and archive search-room and ensuring the security and safety of the displays, collections and visitors; assisting with the preparation and mounting of exhibitions and displays, and handling of collection items; assisting with general clerical work, cataloguing and archiving in respect of Museum collections. Requirements You must have: a clear understanding of the importance of the front-house duties to the public image of the Museum and of the needs of visitors; a clear understanding of the importance of security in the Museum and related health and safety issues; a good general level of education; good verbal communication skills; a flexible approach to work; the ability to work as part of a team. Hours on an as and when required basis. Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Scottish Local Government Living Wage Supplement will be paid for this post.
