KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Corporate ResponsibilitiesTo undertake individual role in line with the Council’s Strategic Priorities and in compliance with the Council’s corporate policies and procedures. To undertake any other reasonably required duties as instructed by Management or someone acting on their behalf, in addition to the role specific tasks & responsibilities detailed below.
Role Specific Tasks & ResponsibilitiesProvide care and personal support to adults with learning disabilities, including service users who have profound and complex physical disabilities. Support service users who require PEG feeding and similar interventions and undertake intimate personal care tasks. Contribute to ongoing individual assessments and social needs, as well as support plans for service users. Provide social interaction and intellectual stimulation on an individual basis and support and contribute to therapeutic programmes designed for service users. Respect the rights of individuals and their carers and ensure the protection of service users from abusive and discriminatory behaviour in all its forms. Support service users in the development of their identity and personal relationships and with difficult, or potentially difficult relationships. Support service users whose behaviour challenges services and seek appropriate guidance as and when required. Contribute both in writing and verbally at service users’ reviews and in the care planning process, as well as assist in decision making in relation to and with service users, their carers and other professionals. Assist and support service users along the pathway to employment. Contribute to the undertaking of risk assessments. Ensure accurate and timely recording of information and report writing and undertake administrative duties as required. Record, maintain and file appropriately, all text and digitally recorded information, in accordance with departmental instructions and procedures. Undertake training and personal development, including Moving and Handling and CALM training. Provide appropriate training and development to staff to enable them to carry out their duties effectively.
