As a Casual Caretaker Cleaner, you will be directly responsible for the security and smooth operation of a Fife Council Community Centre or Hall and the surrounding grounds.
You will be expected to work with existing staff to ensure the building is clean, tidy and safe for a wide range of user groups. Our regular bookings include meetings, community groups, youth clubs, adult learning, exercise groups and children’s clubs. Some of our Community Centres/Halls offer weekend functions/parties and children’s parties.
Fife Council pays the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate to employees earning less than £8.33 per hour. If the hourly rate of pay for the post is less than the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate a supplement will be paid.Requirements
Experience of cleaning in a workplace is essential. Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety is desirable. Successful candidates will be required to attend an Induction and attend mandatory Health and Safety training sessions in Fire Safety, Asbestos Awareness, Legionella Awareness, COSHH and Manual Handling.
You must demonstrate an ability to work well with people. Customer-facing experience would be an advantage.
You need to be physically capable of moving and handling equipment.Responsibilities
Duties include ensuring facilities are opened, closed, safe and secure. You will be required to carry out visual checks and record mandatory Health and Safety checks for the building.
A cleaning rota is provided and it will be your responsibility to make sure the building is cleaned and maintained to a high standard. You will be expected to deal with customer enquiries and respond to the needs of Community Centre/Hall users.
You will be required to deal with customer bookings which will include completing booking forms and passing on relevant information.
You will be required to carry out manual handling tasks including setting up and dismantling for functions and events.The Individual
You will be included as part of a team of Caretaker Cleaners. You will be offered work to cover for staff absence. You will be responsible for opening, closing and securing the Community Centre or Hall you are working at.
The amount of shift on offer will depend on your location and how far you are willing to travel. We have 7 facilities in the Levenmouth Area, 8 in the Glenrothes Area and 7 in the North Easy Fife Area. Work is also on offer in the Kirkcaldy, Cowdenbeath, Dunfermline and South West Fife Area.
You are under no obligation to accept the shifts offered and the Council is under no obligation to make the shifts available.
