Clinical Training Officer
2 x Hamilton/Motherwell
A4C Band 7 £32,013 - £42,205 per annum
Are you looking to make a difference to patient care in Scotland? Do you enjoy helping others develop their clinical careers? Do you want the opportunity to work in clinical education within a dynamic and fast changing ambulance service?
As part of the realisation of our 2020 strategy the Scottish Ambulance Service has changed the way it delivers education to student technicians, moving to a vocational programme which is now being delivered across Scotland at our three regional Clinical Education Centres. Over the next 5 years there will be over 200 student technicians per year progressing through these centres spread across Scotland.
To support this delivery we are seeking to recruit five exceptional candidates to join the education and professional development team across Scotland. As well as helping to deliver the vocational training you will also be involved in supporting staff within the divisions with their professional development. This includes delivering Learning in Practice (face to face clinical education), return to work sessions, driver training, clinical supervision for team leaders and developing individual action plans for staff requiring support. The successful candidates will be employed as Clinical Training Officers and will be joining a team of experienced staff already working in these roles across Scotland. Therefore we are looking for dynamic, flexible, enthusiastic individuals who can work as part of our established busy team.
Candidates must be a registered health professional (with at least two years post qualification experience) and most hold a first degree or be currently working towards one (already registered on a programme), or be able to demonstrate an ability to be able to work at post graduate level. In addition they should hold or be willing to work towards achieving an appropriate level of teaching qualification (such as a VQ4 Certificate in Teaching and Learning or equivalent). They should be able to demonstrate previous experience of delivering education to students studying at SCQF level 6 and 7.
The successful candidates will be based at one of our Clinical Education Centres and will spend most of their time delivering VQ courses and Learning in Practice (LiP) training there. They will be expected to support other programmes within the Education and Professional Development Department and work as part of the wider educational team when required. Candidates will also need to practice clinically to maintain their Paramedic/HCP skill set.
In return for commitment to a very busy education department the successful candidate will have access to further professional development and an opportunity to work with an experienced and motivated team. They will also have scheduled clinical practice time, be able to contribute to the wider direction of travel of the department and work in an environment where the patient is at the heart of everything we do.
