The Crisis Care Team has now been in operation since February 2012 and continues to develop its presence within West Lothian.

The purpose of the Crisis Care Team is to provide a range of personal care and support services, on a 24/7 basis. Staff in the team works a rotating shift pattern, part of which is a waking overnight shift.

We are now looking to appoint a crisis care worker to become a member of the team which provides a range of personal care and support services, the purpose of which is to offer a crisis intervention service to people in the community on an assessed need, including overnight, with the aim of

Preventing unnecessary admission to a hospital or a residential setting. Responding to those who have fallen Responding to technology alerts Referral to a falls management programme where appropriate

The key elements of the post are anticipated as being

Respond to alerts from those who have fallen on a 24/7 basis Where it is safe to do so assist fallers back up, undertake a range of personal care tasks which will ensure individuals comfort and refer onto supervisors for a falls assessment if appropriate Provision of emergency short-term personal care based on an assessed need including overnight Undertake a wide range of tasks such as are appropriate to maintain the service user at home during the crisis period, for example assistance with personal care, assistance with medication, toileting and food prep some examples

Applicants should possess SVQ Level II in Social Care and have experience of working in a community based setting, and should be able to demonstrate knowledge of a wide range of health issues.

Some knowledge of assistive technology and its application within social care would be desirable but not essential

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
