As part of the care home staff, you will provide practical support in the day to day running of the care home. You will be required to work anywhere within the care home and the grounds as directed
We are looking for a motivated person with a flexible approach to work. Previous experience is not essential but there is an expectation that training will be undertaken.
The key duties of this post are:Carry out light maintenance within the care home and gardens, as directed by senior staff. To identify and report minor and major repairs Undertake health, safety checks and tests, stock control and general cleaning tasks where nessesary. To ensure that all procedures are undertaken following procedure and policies laid down by West Lothian Council and the standards deemed by the Care Inspectorate. To ensure the safety and welfare of service users is paramount. To take appropriate responsibility for the implementation of Council policy on health, safety and welfare at work to ensure in conjunction with the appropriate senior staff that the terms of the Health and Safety at Work Act and associated regulations are observed within the Home.
The skills and experience that are desirable include: the use of light tools, some knowledge of DIY
Shift rotas are in operation.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
West Lothian Council currently applies a living wage supplement to all employees earning less than £8.51 per hour.
