To support and assist the Service Manager in ensuring the effective organisation and delivery of the statutory, non-statutory, technical, professional and operational standards to achieve the requirements of both the Team and Service as a whole.

To lead on identified work areas of the Team on a day to day basis, on the instruction and guidance of the Service Manager. To develop and implement any new initiative within the Service, ensuring liaison and collaboration across and between teams, as appropriate, which will consistently deliver high quality customer focused services.

Fife Council pays the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate to employees earning less than £8.33 per hour. If the hourly rate of pay for the post is less than the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate a supplement will be paid.

Requirements

The candidate is expected to have the Diploma in Trading Standards; or the Diploma in Consumer Advice and Trading Standards; or a suitable equivalent to this.

Before confirming appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Membership through Disclosure Scotland. 

Responsibilities

The main roles of the post will be to manage all operational and administrative duties within the remit of the Trading Standards Team and as allocated to you, such as i) the investigation and enforcement of alleged contraventions of legislation, ii) the supervision of various Projects, and iii) any supervisory responsibilities for finance and personnel.

The Individual

The candidate is expected to have:-

A Specialist knowledge in an area of Trading Standards subject material Extensive knowledge of other Trading Standards legislation Detailed knowledge of Enforcement Procedures as they relate to Trading Standards issues Ability to meet targets and work to deadlines Sound organisational ability Rational, methodical approach to problem solving Ability to work, and lead, effectively within a Team Strong inter-personal skills and an excellent communicator
