Catering Assistants carry out their duties under direct supervision from the kitchen, involving the preparation, simple cooking and the serving of food.

Fife Council pays the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate to employees earning less than £8.33 per hour. If the hourly rate of pay for the post is less than the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate a supplement will be paid.


Duties will include basic food and beverage preparation (for example preparation of vegetables and snacks); simple cooking (for example reconstitution/heating of prepared food); serving of meals; general kitchen, bar and cafe duties (for example washing up, serving barista style coffees, cash handling setting up and clearing away equipment and tables), and cleaning of the kitchen, bar, café its surround and equipment.

You must have the ability to relate to the public and the ability to work within a team and on own initiative.
