Marine Harvest has recently purchased a marine recirculation fish farm formerly owned by Anglesey Aquaculture Ltd (AAL), at Black Point, Penmon, Anglesey, in North West Wales. This facility will be developed over the next year into a state of the art cleaner fish hatchery. The facility will aim to produce Ballan Wrasse juveniles as a sustainable cleaner fish that will then be deployed into the company’s salmon farms. Over the next year we are looking to recruit and build up a highly skilled and dedicated team.
We are now looking to recruit an experienced, highly motivated Hatchery Manager for our Wrasse site at Black Point in Anglesey. The successful candidate will have experience in managing a large scale re-circulation facility in a commercial environment.
The position will have overall responsibility for the site and the staff. It is envisaged that there will be a small team of around 12 staff. The primary focus of the role will be to ensure efficient production systems are developed and that a sustainable production cost is maintained. The candidate should be able to supervise and coach staff, develop safety protocols and safe working environment. Good leadership and the ability to motivate and develop teams are essential.
The position will be based at Anglesey and the successful candidate would be expected to develop and be included on an on-call and weekend rota. The candidate should be qualified to a degree level in Aquaculture and/or have 5 years or more managerial experience.
We are looking to recruit an experienced, high motivated Technical Manager for our Wrasse site at Black Point in Anglesey. The successful candidate will have experience in marine hatcheries, cleaner fish or marine species development, and experience in managing live food production.
The position will be part of a small operational management team, with responsibility of developing Ballan Wrasse rearing protocols particularly first feeding with live feed, and weaning onto formulated diets. The successful candidate would be expected to keep up to date with any industry developments in marine hatcheries, and be able to attend any industry development committees on cleaner fish.
The position will be based at Anglesey, where there will be a small team of dedicated staff. The successful candidate would be expected to support the Hatchery Manager in managing the site and staff and the position will be included on an on-call and weekend rota. The candidate should be qualified to a degree level in Aquaculture and/or have 5 years or more experience in a marine hatchery.
The salary will be commensurate with skills and experience of the candidate and will include assistance with relocation. A full clean driving licence is essential.
