All Age Disabilities Service - Short Breaks and Supported Living Network
Social Care Assistant
Annualised hours Contract - 432 hours per annum working 36 hours one week per month on a rota basis over 7 days.
Temporary for a period of up to 12 months
£21,168 - £22,314 pro rata (including Shift Allowance and Distant Islands Allowance)
The All Age Learning Disabilities Short Breaks and Supported Living Network services provide a wide range of high quality support services for adults who have Learning Disabilities and their families. This includes supporting adults in their own homes in the community and a Short Breaks (Respite) Service.
This post is based in a West Mainland setting working alongside a residential team providing 24 hour respite service to an individual.
The All Age Learning Disabilities Short Breaks Service is looking for a highly motivated individual with a combination of skills, who has the ability to work both on an individual basis and as a member of a team.
You will have good communication skills and adopt a person centred approach to deliver a high standard of flexible and responsive care to a service user within the Residential Short Breaks setting. You will provide support and assistance to service users to maximise and maintain their independence and to access community facilities.
You will report to the Senior Social Care Worker. You must be able to evidence a commitment to the care of adults with Learning Disabilities and have preferably, experience in the field of support needs. We are looking for someone with a strong sense of professionalism, sound knowledge of the principles of social inclusion, care planning and risk assessment and who is a familiar with the standards of care required to meet the National care Standards and Care Inspectorate.
You should hold an SVQ2 in Health and Social Care or other relevant qualification to enable registration with the SSSC or achieve this within 3 years of appointment. You will be provided with regular supervision and training opportunities to enhance your existing skills.
This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with adults.
