Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced practitioners with a genuine interest in children and young people, for the innovative Tots & Teens project at Knox Academy. The main role is one of assisting the Play Leader to create an environment which is relaxed, inviting and challenging for all children, with an emphasises on play as a tool for learning. In addition you will be encouraging and supportive of pupils working in the playroom to ensure opportunities and experiences offered are in line with their learning. You will be able to communicate effectively with a range of people, including, children young people, school staff, parents and any visitors to Tots & Teens.
To work with and support the Play Leader to create a warm, friendly, creative, safe and caring
environment for children aged 2-5 years with a particular focus on children aged 2-3 years, some of whom may be considered as vulnerable. To support parents in their role and in conjunction with the Senior Play Leader offer advice, guidance, support and encouragement to pupils involved in the Tots and Teens Programme.

Educated to HNC or SQA Level 3 in CCLD or equivalent and able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups are required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
