Location: Council Offices, Shore Road, Lamlash, Isle of Arran
Rate: £9.97 - £10.91 per hour
Hours: 37.00 hours per week
Contract Type: Permanent
Position Type: Full Time

This post is based on the Isle of Arran and has an 8am start time in Lamlash.

The Roadworker will be responsible to the Senior Manager (Roads), Island Officer or other designated officer for ensuring that the work group carries out, in the proper manner and at the proper time, the instructions given to them. The Roadworker will work as one of a group and carry out the normal duties applicable to his/her grading.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Corporate Responsibilities

To undertake individual role in line with the Council’s Strategic Priorities and in compliance with the Council’s corporate policies and procedures.
To undertake any other reasonably required duties as instructed by Management or someone acting on their behalf, in addition to the role specific tasks & responsibilities detailed below.
Role Specific Tasks & Responsibilities

Undertake and complete work according to instructions received, generally as part of a team.
Use of specialist plant, equipment and materials where required.
Ensure all group or individual tasks are completed as appropriate.
Undertake work according to the appropriate Safe Working Methods ensuring that any site specific restrictions are complied with, allowing all work to be carried out in a safe manner in accordance with current legislation and Departmental Procedures.
Assistance with the completion of worksheets ensuring they are completed accurately and on time.
Assistance with the completion and verification of all quality control sheets.
To undertake any other duties, from time to time, as may be required and as instructed by the Senior Manager (Roads and Transportation) or someone acting on their behalf.
Participate in the Council's winter & summer emergencies, including weather or flooding emergencies.

High Risk Drivers

This post will require you to carry out high risk driving duties. Preferred candidates will therefore be required to complete a Driver’s Health Questionnaire which will be verified by your GP. Please note any costs incurred for the GP verification will be met by the preferred candidate. An Occupational Health Assessment will then be undertaken to determine your fitness for work.
