The Gravedigger will undertake either individually, or as part of a team, the preparation and digging of graves. A variety of minor maintenance work is also undertaken. 

The Gravedigger will be expected to deal with members of the public in a sensitive manner.

Preparing and digging graves. The graves are hand dug except in circumstances approved by the Burial Ground Supervisor, when the use of a mechanical excavator may be permitted. Ensuring that the correct information and location of graves is received from the relevant Burial Grounds Officer.

 A variety of minor maintenance work including the repair of gates, grass cutting, setting of memorials, repairs to access roads and levelling of grounds.

 A driving licence and home telephone are essential
