A permanent employment opportunity is available, for an Accounts Payable Team Leader, in Aberdeen. The purpose of this position is to lead FirstGroup's Accounts Payable Team to ensure delivery of quality service to internal and external customers.

Core Responsibilities

Staff Management and Planning:

  • Lead the day-to-day operation of the Team and agree priorities with the Accounts Payable Manager
  • Day to day management and support of the Team, managing the training and development programme for team members, including their personal development plans
  • Plan and allocate available resources, identify and agree goals for the team, and monitor performance to ensure achievement of agreed objectives
  • Liaise with Human Resources to ensure that policies and procedures are adhered to and followed correctly

Performance Monitoring and Change Management:

  • Monitor performance of the Team to ensure effective delivery of service
  • Produce and develop KPI's to measure performance of the Team and communicate these as appropriate
  • Continuously review processes to identify areas for improvement. Pro-actively involve individuals to ensure delivery of improvements within FSS
  • Responsible for assisting in developing systems and processes and applying best practice for the Accounts Payable function within FSS
  • Assist the Accounts Payable Manager in change management and delivery of the standardisation programme of FSS processes

Customer Focus and Communication:

  • Communicate with and ensure the effective delivery of service to internal and external customers
  • Liaise with other teams within FSS in order to capture and report areas where issues have been identified

Company Role

  • Work closely with all other team to ensure that FSS is run effectively and efficiently and participate in the transfer of knowledge between all the other departments in FSS
  • Ensure that the qualities of the Company's Finance services are of the highest standard at all times
  • Contribute to the overall achievement of the organisations aims and objectives

Other Duties

  • The post holder will be expected to undertake any task consistent with the post that may be required by the business


Essential Experience Required:

  • Customer focussed and experience of dealing with challenging customer situations (Customer Support Team Leader Role)
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Previous management or supervisory experience
  • Experience of working with financial systems
  • IT competent (detailed experience in the use and application of Microsoft Excel and Word software)
  • Computer literate (keyboard skills, and experience of working with PC/ email)
  • Good planning and organising skills
  • Good planning and organising skills
  • Good problem solving and reconciling skills, including the analysis and interpretation of data with the capacity to devise and implement solutions.
  • Experience of working in the Service Sector
