To provide an efficient, high quality service and support to client teams, in the field of actuarial work relating to clients' UK defined benefit pension schemes. This is a unique opportunity to work as part of a dedicated team with responsibility for the provision of day to day support in relation to the advice and operational aspects that will be necessary to service a FTSE100 client with a complex scheme structure.
Core responsibilities include: data manipulation, calculation of pension liabilities, valuations, and production of reports.
Manage work on nominated projects/clients to ensure that work is done on time and within budget.
Develop and maintain a good working relationship with colleagues, clients and within client teams.
Ensure that all work is undertaken in a rigorous, accurate and methodical manner and that comprehensive audit trails are maintained. This can involve following well established processess.
Present work in a clear and understandable manner to clients or colleagues as requested.
Skills and Qualifcations Required:
Strong proven numerical ability with A-level maths at minimum grade B or above.
This role is a technically focussed role. The candidate will need the ability and interest to develop a sound grounding in the actuarial and systems techniques used in the valuation of pension benefits and the management of membership databases.
To be able, under instruction, to prepare actuarial calculations including key elements of funding valuations, accounting reports and similar work making use of the firm's software products as appropriate.
Proven track record with work experience in a related role or a numerical role within a commercial environment.
Proven numerical, analytical or data manipulation skills, ideally gained in a financial services or other commercial environment.
First class organisational and communication abilities.
Proven ability to manage multiple and sometimes conflicting client demands.
A proactive self-starting approach and ability to use own initiative and manage own workload.
To have some understanding of the legislative framework for UK pension schemes, commensurate with the level of experience in pensions actuarial work.
Strong IT skills in particular an advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Authorities and Limitations:
Not authorised to issue invoices to clients or to enter into binding fee agreements.
Not authorised to give FCA regulated investment advice.
