Relief Driver/Road Worker 2, Rousay
£10.07 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)
Hours are offered on an as and when required basis
A shift allowance will be paid for unsocial hours worked where appropriate
You will be expected to act as holiday and sickness relief for the Council's full time operative on the island throughout the year. You will be required to carry out a variety of roads and municipal related activities including emergency callout. A condition of this post is that you will be resident on Rousay as you will be required to respond at short notice and during evening/weekends.
In addition, between the months of October and April, you will be required to participate as part of the Winter Service response delivering gritting and snow clearing services. This will require participation in a callout rota and working during weekends.
A full Class C LGV driving licence is essential.
Candidates will require a flexible attitude to work, a willingness to undertake a variety of duties associated with roads maintenance and waste services, and the ability to work on their own. Training in the use of specialist equipment will be given.
