To deliver a high quality programme of Physical Activity, develop learning outdoors and lead adventurous activity for pupils within the Pupil Support Service. To ensure a positive impact for all participants by delivering meaningful, accredited, fun and challenging programmes. To operate within the safety guidelines of the service.

Fife Council pays the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate to employees earning less than £8.51 per hour. If the hourly rate of pay for the post is less than the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate a supplement will be paid.

Requirements

Two from BCU L2 Coach, Mountain Leader, SPA, Trail Cycle Leader or BC L2 Award. 2 day Outdoor First Aid award.

Additional awards such as BCU 4* Leader, Mountain Bike Leader and L2 Powerboat would be an advantage.

HNC or equivalent experience in a relevant field such as Outdoor or Community Education.

Responsibilities

To plan, prepare and deliver a programme of Physical Activity, outdoor learning and adventurous activity for pupils within the Pupil Support Service alongside other teaching and support staff.

Plan sessions and provide instruction including leading groups in sole charge according to skills, experience and training.

Ensure overall safety of participants by following the Outdoor Education Fife and Fife Council safety management systems.

The Individual

You should have significant personal interest and current experience of relevant outdoor activities and have worked with a wide cross section of people (voluntary or paid).

Specific experience with special needs groups, including young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.

Experience / knowledge of delivering accredited courses through SQA, ASDAN etc.

Experience of supporting a wide range of learning experiences in the outdoor environment and working on Project-based and Interdisciplinary Learning as part of a wider learning team.

You should have the ability to follow complex instructions, stay calm and work well under pressure and deal with confrontation. You will need to use your initiative as and when required. You should have an employment history that demonstrates these skills and knowledge.

A full driving license and the ability to drive minibuses or willingness to undertake training is desirable.
