For some people the daily living tasks, which many of us take for granted, can become very difficult. That’s why our Home Carers are so vital. They can assist with anything from personal care to assisting with meals to some domestic tasks and general support and guidance. To ensure we can fully support our clients and maintain our caring services, we are looking to enhance our home care service through the creation of a Relief Register of carers who can we can call upon when required.
Working as a member of the Home Care team you will provide support and personal care on a ‘one-to-one’ basis with people who have a wide range of caring needs in their own homes. Hours of working will be based on your availability and on an as required basis.
Fife Council pays the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate to employees earning less than £8.51 per hour. If the hourly rate of pay for the post is less than the Scottish Local Government Living Wage Rate a supplement will be paid.Requirements
Experience is not essential for this position of a Home Carer, instead we are looking for individuals with strong interpersonal skills, a caring personality and someone who is reliable and can be relied upon to support the service user in their home in a very rewarding capacity. We are looking for someone that can always work in the best interests of the service user.
Whilst there are no essential qualifications required for this post, you must be willing to be educated within the Council’s timescale to SCQF level 5 which includes SVQ level 2, in order to register with the Scottish Social Services Council.Responsibilities
You will be responsible for providing support and personal care for service users and their carers in accordance with an assessed need using professional, sensitive and flexible methods and skills in accordance with National Care Standards.
carrying out limited domestic duties such as vacuuming, laundry.
Assisting clients to maintain good standards of nutrition.
Supporting service users at times of distress, anxiety and confusion.
Pushing and pulling of equipment such as hoists, wheelchairs and bathing chairs is an integral part of the post.The Individual
You should have an awareness of social, emotional and physical needs of frail, disabled and vulnerable people. You should have good writing skills as this job will involve writing up notes. Ability to be flexible in working hours to meet the needs of the service and work unsupervised at times using your own initiative. Your role demands a positive attitude and the ability to respect the needs of service users. Good verbal communicational skills with an appreciation, acceptance and a commitment to the importance of confidentiality. This job involves undertaking a range of movements when carrying out personal care and domestic tasks therefore you should be able to undertake the range of duties required.
