Royal Mail Group is a successful and rapidly evolving FTSE 250 business, and following a developmental move for the previous incumbent we are looking for a Senior HR Business Partner to join us in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Regular travel across the region (and on occasion nationally) will be required. 

About the role Working as a key leader in the Business Facing HR (BFHR) team this role is the primary HR interface between a number of senior operational leaders within the geographic area of responsibility.  You’ll support the delivery of the operational balanced scorecard to achieve strategic goals as well as business productivity and cost performance. 

Playing a critical role in the deployment and delivery of improved management capability, you will create further benefit for the business and its customers and identify further efficiencies within the Letters & Network HR team. Leading a team of 8 Business Facing HR Managers and supporting a colleague population of 15,000 – 20,000, you’ll ensure that the right level of customer partnering takes place. 

Coaching and developing operational managers in your geographic area, you will work in partnership with the line to develop their capability to achieve the balanced scorecard people measures. Leading the wider BFHR team to deliver excellent customer service, they will ensure the successful delivery of activities in the HR calendar of activity such as attendance, talent, engagement, L&D, workforce planning initiatives, HR change projects (small and transformational) and organisation design/restructures. 

About you With experience of generalist HR delivery in a unionised matrix organisation, you’ll most likely be Degree and CIPD qualified (or equivalent) and have a good knowledge of UK legislative frameworks and associated people policies. Experience of leading a team of HR professionals is essential, as is a track record in a multi-site environment. Able to build excellent working relationships and with the ability to influence, you will have experience of working within a commercial environment and will be results and output focussed. Experience of coaching and development is also crucial, as you will often be an escalation point for operational managers in need of support. Experience of working with trade unions is desirable.  The ability to understand and analyse data is key.
