Glasgow Caledonian University is a vibrant multi-cultural modern university in the centre of Glasgow and is placed amongst the top 150 modern Universities in the world (THE, 2017).
The Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professions Research Unit (NMAHP RU) was established in 1994 and is funded through a 5 year rolling award by the Scottish Government. This supports 7 core senior academics with a focus on improving clinical outcomes and service quality in areas of practice that fall within the NMAHP remit. Co-investment by partner HEIs and a highly successful research track record means that the Unit now has 60-70 staff and full time PhD students. We are leads and co-applicants on multiple NIHR, Chief Scientist Office and charity funded trials and service evaluations across our three main research programmes: Innovation in NMAHP healthcare technologies, Transforming Care Delivery and Improving the efficiency of healthcare research (worth approximately £17m). We are also major partners in the new Scottish Improvement Science Collaboration (part funded by Health Foundation).
The Unit has specialised and dedicated methodologists in statistics, record linkage, complex service evaluations, systematic reviews (Cochrane, and qualitative), randomised controlled trials, consensus methods and qualitative research. The Unit also has a substantive researcher development scheme for all staff that provides support for grant writing, paper writing, and skills development.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the unit for which we require a Data Co-ordinator for our recently awarded TOPSY Trial. The successful candidate will work with the Trial Manager and Project Team to ensure the successful completion of the project.
We require a Data Co-ordinator to work with us on the TOPSY Trial. The TOPSY Trial is an NIHR funded study which aims to assess if self-management of prolapse using a vaginal pessary is more effective at improving women’s quality of life than standard follow up care. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with the Trial Manager and project team to ensure the smooth running of the project, liaising with trial researchers, centres, participants and oversight committees in addition to NHS ethics and R&D bodies.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in relevant subject area with a postgraduate qualification in relevant area being desirable. You must have experience of working with and developing large databases, research report writing and experience of gaining NHS ethical and R&D approval. Knowledge of guidelines relation to Good Clinical Practice, Research and Clinical Governance, Data Protection and ethical considerations is essential.
