Job Description Leisure & Culture Dundee is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) SC042421. It was established by Dundee City Council in July 2011 to deliver leisure, sports, library, information and cultural services for the city. Working 37 hours per week, you will assist our lead instructors to deliver high quality outdoor education adventure activity sessions and programmes for Ancrum Outdoor Centre. This post is fixed term for 2 years. The Modern Apprentice Scheme is focused to target high youth unemployment in the Dundee Area and the funding for training is only available for candidates aged 16 to 19. Please ensure, if you are applying for the Modern Apprentice post, that you are between the ages of 16 to 19. You will be asked to bring proof of age with you if you are invited to an interview. Requirements You will have 3 National 4 qualifications, or equivalent, including English and Maths. Responsibilities You will undertake appropriate theoretical and practical training to develop the knowledge, skills and experience required, during the apprenticeship programme to achieve appropriate SVQ qualification and assist our highly qualified instructors delivering high quality outdoor learning courses and programmes to a variety of user groups and in particular school children. The Individual You will have experience of working with children and young people in a leader role and successful as part of a team, as well as the ability to use your own initiative. You must have good communication skills demonstrated through a confident, friendly and helpful manner and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software especially Word, Excel and accurate keyboard operation, as well as attention to detail and accuracy in work produced is essential. You will be a dynamic and enthusiastic individual, who is committed to personal and professional development and can work flexibly under differing working circumstances. You must be willing to work occasional weekends. You must be physically fit to assist in delivering sessions and courses to participants in a range of outdoor adventure activities, and have a respectful appreciation of the environment in line with Access Code. You will be enthusiastic and committed to completing full Modern Apprenticeship and achieving SVQ Level 3 in Leisure Management at SCQF Level 7. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Leisure & Culture Dundee.
