A rare opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Pensions Projects professional, looking to lead from the front and develop a small team of pensions analysts within a dynamic administration function that is passionate about providing outstanding customer service to our client, a global blue-chip financial services company.

About the role

Within this role you will be responsible for managing various complex projects simultaneously, working very closely with the Pension & Benefits Manager and Team Leader. You will be required to transform business requirements into detailed system specifications and to ensure that system developments fulfil business requirements. Reporting to the Pension & Benefits Manager you will be responsible for providing a high quality service to our client. You will have the confidence and gravitas to confidently deal with senior stakeholders, keeping them updated and responding to their needs

This is a progressive role requiring advanced Excel skills, a keen eye for process improvements, while being comfortable supporting, training and developing less experienced members of the team.

You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to present key information to senior stakeholders. Team orientated, with a logical approach to problem solving, as well as being flexible with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.

The ideal candidate will already be working as a Project Manager within the Pension's industry, with previous stakeholder management experience and a proven track record of managing complex projects, while possessing strong pensions administration skills.

Role Detail

Key Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Transforming business requirements into detailed system specifications, ensuring that systems developments fulfil business requirements

  • The management and delivery of key projects and scheme events within KPI's/SLA's, maintaining control and proactively communicating on progress. This covers all project management disciplines, including planning, tracking, reporting and risk/change management. Responsible for taking the helm and steering projects.

  • Managing the Project Team and all project risks/issues

  • Ensuring everyone in the Project Team is aware of their roles and responsibilities

  • Providing oversight on all project activities, ensuring milestones are met and reported against

  • Liaise with other areas, including IT and Pension & Benefits Transactions, to ensure any potential impact of the work undertaken by the Projects Team is recognised and understood

  • Supporting and developing the Pension Projects Analysts within the team to reach their full potential

Essential skills & Experience

  • Detailed knowledge of Defined Contribution Occupational Pension Plans, with previous experience of bulk processing, data analysis & manipulation and managing projects from commencement to completion

  • Must have the ability to understand and evaluate the work undertaken by team members

  • Advanced Excel skills, work will involve Pivot Tables & Reporting, Advanced Formulas, Tables & Formatting, Data Views, VLOOKUP's ,VBA and Macros

  • Managing the team and all project risks/issues

  • Developing the team so that each individual reaches their full potential
