The Midlothian Dementia Team works with Adults and Older People who have a diagnosis of Dementia.

This Integrated and co located joint dementia team are seeking an enthusiastic practitioner who has a real commitment to improving the lives of people with dementia.

The successful candidate should have the ability to work flexibly with a range of multi-disciplinary practitioners and have a sound knowledge of people with dementia
The successful candidate will assist Social Workers, Occupational Therapists and Nursing Staff by undertaking a range of tasks and support roles.

You will be required to undertake simple assessments of a client’s need in order to provide equipment, minor adaptations and packages of care to enable them to maintain their independence at home.

You must enjoy working with people and be able to work independently within a community setting and demonstrate good communication skills.

Previous experience of working in a health or social care setting is desirable as is a qualification eg HNC/SVQ level 3 in Care or a related discipline.

You should have good organisational skills and a working knowledge of IT.

You must hold a current driving license.

Contract Status: Fixed Term – 6 Months

Hours of Work: 36 hours per week

Working Pattern: Monday-Thursday 9.00-17.00
Fri 9.00-15.30

Weeks per year: 52 weeks

Closing Date: Sunday 18 February 2018

Interview Date: Friday 02 March 2018

Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale.

Based on you working 36 hours over 52 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £22,015.79 per annum.

Regulated Work with Protected Adults

This post is considered Regulated Work with Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with protected adults.

Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Adults. You will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment with Midlothian Council, the cost of which will be met by you.
