Job Description Based in Mental Health Officer Team in Dundee House, you will work full time, 37 hours per week. The Mental Health Officer Team delivers the Dundee City Council statutory responsibility under the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003 and Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000. The Team also offers exciting opportunities to learn and develop in different areas of social work across all community care groups. Requirements You will have a Diploma in Social Work, CQSW or CSS with appropriate option, or equivalent, and MHO Post qualifying award. You must be registered with Scottish Social Services Council. Responsibilities You will provide professional leadership as first line manager with day to day operational management responsibility for a team or teams of staff delivering front line social work services, whilst ensuring high standards of practice parameters and service provision are maintained. The Individual You will have proven experience in supervisory/management position and experience as a practising Mental Health Officer. You will also have working knowledge of the relevant legislation in relation to Mental Health Officers statutory duties and knowledge and experience of using Adult Support and Protection legislation. Good organisational and communication skills are essential, including the use of functional information systems, the ability to lead, advise, assess and respond to critical situations, commitment to ongoing effective staff support and development, the ability to work to professional standards and within local policies and procedures, and experience in the delivery of Mental Health Officer training are also essential. You will be able to travel efficiently in the course of your duties. The service has strong partnership working relationships with NHS Tayside, Housing Department and the 3rd Sector and other Council partners in Tayside. You will be expected to take a leadership role in particular aspects of team development which could include further development of partnership working arrangements with service users, carers and stakeholders and contributing to working groups and strategic planning groups. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
